In today’s fast paced world, unexpected delays and interruptions are anything but welcome—in fact, they can be downright stressful. I’m talking about delayed flights, waiting to have a flat tire fixed, or long lines at the Post Office. You can curse these delays if you choose, but that will only stress you and make the wait seem even longer. A better way to handle these situations is to turn them into opportunities to connect with friends and loved ones. For example, take out your phone and text someone you haven’t talked to in a while just to say something like, “Thinking of you today, I hope you are doing well.” Doing so won’t eliminate the delay, but it will make the time pass faster and lower your stress level. Just thinking about these people will change your whole outlook, and you’ll not only brighten their day, but yours too. What a perfect way to spend this time.
