Take the Time to Brighten Someone’s Day—You’ll Be Glad You Did

Be Prepared to Listen

If someone appears to be down, take the time to build them back up. Go to them and say something like, “You seem kind of down today, is everything all right?” Then be prepared to listen to what they have to say and look for ways to lighten their load. Taking a personal interest communicates the deepest form of caring. Even if this person doesn’t want to talk about why they’re down, they will always remember that you cared enough to ask. Doing this will not only make you feel good, but now you have someone who is waiting for the opportunity to build you back up the next time you’re down.

  1. Ross, your blog on “Taking Risks” was added to our SCORE chapter monthly message to our local chapter membership. I added your name along with Author & Consultant as the originator.
