When You go the Extra Mile to do a Kindness for Someone, They Will Never Forget It

Ross and Marcia Reck

My wife Marcia and I belong to a group that meets every Thursday morning. This past Thursday, the group met at our house because our normal meeting room was not available. Our 50th wedding anniversary was coming up soon, so the group decided to surprise us with a 50th anniversary breakfast. We were completely surprised! One person brought a large breakfast casserole, someone else brough fresh bouquet of beautiful flowers, another brought the ingredients for mimosas, another brought plates and napkins with “Happy 50th” printed on them, while another brought a fresh fruit salad. There was lots of laughter and stories were shared about our courtship and 50 years of marriage. The experience was so joyful that Marcia and I felt giddy! And now, several days later, each time we think about that wonderful party thrown by some very dear friends, we relive that joy over again. Marcia and I feel so fortunate to have a group of wonderful friends who would take the time to organize and do this. It’s something we’ll never forget. The lesson here is when you go the extra mile to do a kindness for someone, you give them a memory that will bring them joy for the rest of their life.
