Last week as I was walking toward my favorite coffee shop, I couldn’t help but overhear one end of a cell phone conversation. A woman was speaking to a friend and she was obviously frustrated because she was speaking loudly and directly. She said to her friend, “You’ll never be able to write the next chapter of your life if you keep reading the previous chapter over and over again.” I thought, “Wow! What powerful advice.” What this woman was saying is that dwelling on the past won’t change it, but it does prevent us from moving forward and making our future better.
Hi Ross…
Good advice about past mistakes.
Thought occurs to me that you could probably spin up a followup about understanding and making positive use of the past. That is, Moving on from a past mistake is like closing out a business audit. It’s to late to prevent the finding – so the best you can do is examine the cause, and change future behavior to avoid repeating the mistake. As you do a great job of explaining…. A positive attitude includes looking forward to being better tomorrow.
Thanks for all the great tips and info. for so many years!
Mike
great advise.
Leave the past, is gone, move forward, …thanks
