There’s a lot to like about Pope Francis

... the poor...

… the poor…

As I mentioned before, I am not a Roman Catholic, but I think the new Pope is an excellent role model. According to an article by Peggy Noonan in last Saturday’s Wall Street Journal, the new Pope is not drawn to pomp. Instead of living in the Vatican’s apostolic palace, Pope Francis is choosing to live in a small suite in the Vatican guest house (Room 201). In addition, just hours before his election to Pope, he told his fellow cardinals that “…the Vatican must turn away from self-absorption and ‘theological narcissism'” and instead focus its energies on the people who are on the fringes–the poor, the suffering, the damaged and the dying. Wow! Just imagine how much better off the world would be if all of us–especially business leaders, church leaders and politicians–adopted the new Pope’s set of priorities.

  1. What Pope Francis is saying now is what he has been telling Argentinians for years… He is a great leader, whith a message of love and tenderness that can reach catholics, jews, muslims and peopleo of no religion… He makes people feel part of something greater, and that is sometimes what we need!
