I attended a social event where one of the guests was intent on bringing out the best in the people around him. Instead of bragging about his own deeds and accomplishments, he spent the evening encouraging the people around him to talk about theirs. Let me tell you, by the end of the evening, a fair number of people were lined up waiting to shake hands with this person and get his phone number. He put the interests of others ahead of his own and by doing so, actually called attention to himself but in a very positive and likeable way. The lesson here is when you shine a light on others, it always reflects back on you!
