The above statement was inspired by Will Rogers. It reminds us that we often start out pursuing our dreams with the notion that the pathway will be straight, level and not all that difficult. We soon find out that a lot of it is winding, uphill, much more difficult than we imagined. In addition, it’s dotted with very attractive parking spaces along the way that tempt us to settle for something less than what we set out for. These parking spaces represent our comfort zones, the easy way out, or living down to the expectations of others. When confronted with these temptations, it’s very easy to entertain thoughts like, “This is far more difficult that I imagined; maybe I set my goals a little too high.” What most people tend to forget at times like these is that any dream worth pursuing is going to have some tough stretches along the way. Furthermore, those tough stretches are where the necessary learning takes place that will ultimately enable us to achieve our dream. So, the next time you’re tempted to give up on your dream because the going is getting a little tough, remember that your success is just on the other side of that tough stretch. The lesson here is don’t give up on your dreams, instead, when the going gets tough, remember to keep on truckin’!
