I fell into this trap recently when it appeared that things weren’t going well in certain aspects of my professional life and I began to stress out. When this happened, I lost track of the fact that I have a wonderful wife, a fantastic family, lots of great friends, a nice roof over my head and two cars that run and are paid for. I focused only on things that were missing in my life instead of what I already had. I was waking up at night with feeling anxious and unable to go back to sleep. Then one night when I woke up, the lyrics from an old Bing Crosby song popped into my head: “When I’m worried and I can’t sleep, I count my blessings instead of sheep. And I fall asleep counting my blessings.” I sang those lyrics over and over in my mind and it finally snapped my out of my funk. All I can say is thank you Bing Crosby!
Always find the positive in EVERY situation trust me, there is always a positive in even the bleakest of situations. Another way to cope if you will, whenever you think your situation is bad, take a moment to look around and you will usually find someone who is worse off. I agree wholeheartedly with you, count your blessings and you’ll make it through! 🙂
Thank you so much for your kind comment to my blog. You made my day! You are so right, there are always many people who are far worse of than you are. I hope you are well and I miss you. Where are you working these days? Do you ever see Linda Berry? All the best to you, Ross
