Relationships Need Intentional Care
Personal relationships don’t maintain themselves. They need to be intentionally fed and cared for if you expect them to thrive. This involves regularly visiting the people you have relationships with, either in person or over the phone, when you don’t ask for anything. If the only time you call or call on one of these people is when you want something, you quickly become known as a “taker” or “user” and no one wants to be involved with someone like that. So, set aside a few minutes each week to call some of the people on your “relationship list” just to say hi and ask how they’re doing. If you do, the next time you need a favor from one of these people, you’ll be glad you did.
