The above is a quote from Golda Meir, the form Prime Minister of Israel. What this quote is telling us is that nothing better prepares us to deal with life than overcoming adversity. Doing so makes us stronger, builds our confidence and makes us eager to take on new challenges. These are the building block of success–if you take a close look at any highly successful person, you’ll find that overcoming adversity is what made them that way. For example, J. K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series was on welfare, divorced, severely depressed, trying to raise a child on her own while attending school and writing a novel. She met her adversity head on and today she’s a billionaire. It’s the same with Oprah Winfrey. She was born into poverty to a teenage single mother in rural Mississippi and later raised in an inter-city Milwaukee neighborhood. Hers was a rough and often abusive childhood. She chose to overcome her adversity rather than becoming a victim of it and today, she’s also a billionaire. Maybe overcoming adversity won’t make you a billionaire like these two women, but it will make you stronger and ready to take on whatever life may throw your way.
Hi Ross,
Thanks for sharing this distribution. Have you overcome adversity Ross? I think all of us have at some point or another. It is only natural that many good, solid, hard-working individuals fall into tough times like JK Rolling with her early beginnings of welfare and divorce. The sad part is that our society will often tell the JK Rollings of the past that they are at the lowest level due to some fault of their own. Sometimes, things just happen and it isn’t right but we have to work to right a wrong. Life takes unexpected turns. Lets try to help those around us to overcome adversity. When we help those around us, they will extend their hands out to help us in our time of need.
Good day!

Dear Joan,
You made some wonderful comments regarding my Weekly Reminder way back in September and I failed to get back with you. I have been working non-stop on a book and just finished. However, that’s no excuse for not staying in contact with a friend. Please accept my apology. On another note, I hope all is well and that you have a wonderful 2013. All the best to you, Ross
