I have a friend named Paul who has been in and out of the hospital numerous times during the past several years. When Paul returned home from his last trip to the hospital, he had no appetite and was eating very little. After a while, his daughter who is a nurse, became concerned that if he didn’t eat more, his strength would not return. She shared her concern with Luisa, a fellow nurse at the hospital where she worked. After work, Luisa told her mother about Paul’s situation. Her mother said, “This is not good. The man needs to eat. What he needs are some good home-made tacos!” Luisa’s mother then proceeded to make a batch of tacos from scratch, packaged them up and sent them to work with Luisa. Luisa then gave them to Paul’s daughter who took them to Paul after work. When the tacos were heated up, they smelled so good that his appetite immediately returned as he dug in and enjoyed the tacos. Paul was overwhelmed and overjoyed by this generous act of kindness performed by a caring person he didn’t even know.
