Words of Encouragement are often more powerful than we Realize

I recently read a post on Brad Aronson’s Blog regarding how acts of kindness can change people’s lives. According to the post, in 1985, a man named Gabe Sonnier was the janitor at an elementary school in Louisiana. One day the principal told him that he should be “grading papers [rather than] picking them up.” Mr. Sonnier said that no one had believed so strongly in him before so he was inspired to start spending his free time studying. He eventually earned a teaching degree and then a Master’s degree and today he’s principal at that same elementary school. The lesson here is that one word of encouragement completely changed this man’s life. So, the next time you have an opportunity to offer a word of encouragement; do it. You just might set off a similar chain of events. If you would like to read the rest of Mr. Aronson’s very interesting blog post, here’s the link.
