During the past several years, I’ve needed to utilize the services of a large cardiology practice. Each time I go there, I make it a point to be cheerful and kind to the people who are helping me. Not long ago, I was not feeling just right, and I wanted to get one of the doctors to squeeze me between his scheduled appointments so I could make sure I was okay. When I approached the receptionist who answered the phone with this idea she said, “I don’t know about that, we’re awfully busy today.” Then she asked for my birth date. When she put that information into the computer and found out who I was, she said, “Oh hi Ross! Let me put you on hold and see what I can do.” As a result, I got my appointment that afternoon instead of having to wait until the following week. The lesson here is, when people find out that you care, they care.
