When You’re Kind, People Will Really Miss You When You’re Gone

Lorraine Webber

My mother-in-law, Lorraine Webber, passed away on August 31st. She was a kind soul with a good word for everyone she ran into and was always willing to listen. She could strike up a friendship with a total stranger instantly. She went on several river cruises in Europe with her husband. He told me that by the end of the first day of the cruise, she knew everyone on the boat. Whenever they walked into the dining room, people at numerous tables would wave them over to sit with them. So, when it was announced on Facebook that she had passed away, the tributes and condolences started pouring in immediately. The one thing nearly all these tributes had in common was they talked about what a kind person she was and how much she would be missed. As Mandy Hale put it, “Be good to people. You’ll be remembered more for your kindness than any level of success you could possibly attain.” That was my mother-in-law, and she will be fondly remembered.

One Sentence Wisdom
