My wife Marcia went to Costco the other day to pick up a few things. After she paid for her items and was getting ready to exit the store, she noticed that the line to get the receipt checked was really backed up. At first, she thought maybe there was only one person at the door checking receipts. Then word came up the line that a long-time employee named Dean was retiring and that day was his last day. Dean was a kind person who always smiled and had something positive to say to everyone. Customers were lining up to give Dean a farewell hug or shake his hand. Many customers were getting their receipts checked in one line and then getting in Dean’s line just so they could touch him and wish him well. This is the kind of thing that happens when you are kind. People will care enough to stand in line to wish you well.
