Recently, I came across the following quote from Mahatma Gandhi: “The simplest acts of kindness are far more powerful than a thousand heads bowed in prayer.” Our acts of kindness can impact other people in a number of ways – sometimes they brighten their day, sometimes they make their day and sometimes they can even change their life. Columnist Mitch Albom wrote in a Detroit Free Press column about a homeless Navy veteran whose wife had died some time ago. He took it hard and didn’t want to go on living anymore. When he arrived at a Detroit homeless shelter, he told the staff that he came there to die, but after all the kindness shown him by the shelter staff, he changed his mind and chose to go on living. So, let’s all make it a point to perform more acts of kindness. As you can see, they can have a very powerful impact on another person’s life.
