There’s No Excuse for not Making a Difference Every Day

A hug, a smile

A hug

Recently, my horoscope read: “You are never too young, too old or too broke to make a difference in someone’s life.” I think this should be expanded to include: too busy, too tired, too important or too shy. Making a difference is what all of us were put on this earth to do–it’s the very thing that makes the world a better place. The reason there’s no excuse for not doing so is that it requires very little time or effort. All it takes is a kind word, a smile, a hug or a listening ear and you’ve made a positive difference in someone’s life. And here’s the wonderful catch to doing this–it makes a big-time difference in your life as well. This is one of the ways we are able to experience the sweetness of life.

    • Hi George,
Thank you so much for your comments. “Too hurried” is probably the biggest culprit of all–we need to force ourselves to take the time. Also, thanks for the link to the heart-rendering story; it’s a good one. Have a great rest of the week.

      All the best to you,

      Ross

  1. Hey Ross, I try to follow random acts of kindness such as when I thanked you for your service. You told me that was the first time someone said that to you. I was astonished by that fact. Chicago, for all it’s faults, is a friendly city in many ways. Folks will chat in lines and all over, I’ve found. So it’s easy to bolster someone who needs a kind word. When young black men are shot in the back I let black people know that I am frustrated, too.

    • Hi Celeste!

It’s always nice to hear from you and thank you so much for your comments. Being kind is what makes me truly feel alive. I think you are out of the same mold–keep up the good work. Carol Krieger is staying with us this week and we are having a wonderful time. She asked me to tell you hello and that she appreciates the pictures of your grandchildren on Facebook. I hope all is well.
      All the best to youk
      Ross
