My Weekly Reminder
A recent CareerBuilder survey found that more than half of all workers say they are under a great deal of stress and nearly 80 percent say they are burned out on the job. At the same time, people are taking shorter vacations and many plan to work while on vacation. So, how does one get their batteries recharged? One possible way is to take an occasional day off. Keep in mind, I’m not talking about a day where you stay home and do yard work or wash windows; I’m talking about a day where you completely disengage and do something that reenergizes you. For example, you might take a really long walk without your BlackBerry, spend some time in a bookstore, have lunch at a restaurant in a different part of town or lose yourself in a good book. You’ll find that if you do this, you’ll actually look forward to going to work the next day.
