My Weekly Reminder

While many of us would like to believe that the decisions we make are based on rational calculation rather than emotion, a recent study reported in USA Today showed the exact opposite is true.  The study, conducted by a team of neuroscientists in London, proved that the brain, without question and beyond doubt, relies on emotion over intellect in making decisions.  The article states: “The brain stores emotional memories of past decisions and those are what drive people’s choices in life.”  What this means is that if you expect to favorably influence another person’s decision, that person has to feel good about you and about the choice you’re proposing–a “rational” argument, by itself, isn’t going to cut it.  It would be most helpful for you to keep this in mind the next time you want a favorable decision from someone.
