My Weekly Reminder

We’ve all heard how happy people are healthier, live longer, do better in relationships and have a greater sense of well being.  But, what do you do on those days when you just don’t feel happy?  The answer is: you fake it–you go through the motions anyway.  According to David Myers, Professor of Psychology at Hope College, “Research shows that going through the motions can trigger emotions.”  This means if you go through the motions of smiling at the people you meet, sooner than later your smile will become real.  Likewise, if you fake enthusiasm when you show up at work, you’ll quickly be caught up in the real thing.  So the next time you find yourself not being happy, go through the motions anyway.  The people around you will be glad you did and so will you.

“I really like getting these emails – they make me stop and think out of the box, out of the rat-race so to speak.  Thanks for adding me to the list.”
