People Remember Your Successes; They Don’t Remember Your Failures

Remember your Successes

Legendary baseball player, Babe Ruth, struck out 1,330 times during his Major League career, but he’s not remembered for that. What he is remembered for are the 714 home runs that he hit. In the same way, Thomas Edison isn’t remembered for the 3,000 failed tries on his way to inventing the first successful lightbulb, he’s remembered for inventing the lightbulb. The only time failure counts against us is if we try something once, fail and then quit; people do remember quitters. On the other hand, if you try, fail and keep trying, you’ll find that people will admire you for your courage. As Albert Einstein put it, “It’s not that I’m so smart, it’s just that I stay with problems longer.” In other words, he didn’t quit.

One Sentence Wisdom

  • “Failure is only the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.” — Henry Ford
  • “We will either find a way or make one.” — Hannibal
