This past week I went back to the same restaurant that I mentioned in last week’s Reminder where I had the kind interactions with the server who no one else seemed to notice. It had been three weeks since this server had waited on our group, and it was only the second time I’d ever seen her. When she came around to take my drink order, she looked at me and said, “Ross, right?” I answered, “Yes, it is.” She came back with, “Chardonnay, right?” I answered, “Right again!” Then she said, “It’s great to see you!” What’s interesting is that I never told her my name; she had to have read it on my credit card. The lesson here is that when you make it a point to be kind, people on the receiving end of your kindness take notice and the next time they see you coming their way, they’re wearing a smile and are very happy to see you. It’s a wonderful feeling when this happens and the good news is, we can make this happen as often as we want.
