When I asked if everything was alright, she said she had been feeling that her life stood for nothing and she was asking herself the question, “Why am I even here?” I then shared with her that during the week prior I was in the meat department and observed what she did during the course of performing her job. In less than five minutes time, six different people came up to her. Some exchanged friendly greetings, some received hugs and they all left with a smile. I said, “Jen, you made everyone of those person’s days and you do this all the while you’re here at work.” I pointed out that, by itself, is reason enough for anyone to be here. I then said, “Jen your life was all about making other peoples’ days and without you, none of those days would have been made.” At this point, she looked at me and said “thank you,” gave me a hug and her usual smile returned to her face.

We share some of the same favorite quotes: Jackie Robinson & Thomas Paine. It must have been that great Lake Township water we were raised on and that BHS foundation. Hope you are doing good.
HI Ross
Your post on how we make a difference is so important for ALL of us to remember. You and I speak to groups and it could be years later when we meet audience members and they share how we impacted their life. When I hear that it is a friendly reminder that we ALL take our strengths for granted. Thanks for your words of encouragement.
I hope she will never forget those words that you told her…She is God’s smile
and she has the opportunity to spread it out…. She makes the world a better place to live in…. Keep smiling lady…..
