The secret to getting another person to hang on your every word is simple — talk to them about them. If you talk about them, they will listen to you all day. Always keep in mind, the other person is dying to tell his or her story but doesn’t care about hearing yours. The minute you introduce the words “I” and “Me” into the conversation, the other person loses interest quickly. So, the next time someone starts talking to you about themselves or their kids, don’t feel that you have to compete by talking about yourself or your kids. Instead sit back and enjoy their story (or their lies). If you do, the other person will walk away thinking, “Wow! I really like that person and I can’t wait to talk to him or her again!” As Maya Angelou once said, “At the end of the day people won’t remember what you said or did, but they will remember how you made them feel.”
