My Weekly Reminder
Eddie Robinson, the lengendary football coach at Grambling State University, died recently at the age of 88. During his 57 year career he won 408 games (only one coach has won more) and more than 200 of his players went on to play professional football. Eddie Robinson knew how to inspire and motivate his players in order to bring out the best in them. His secret is contained in his credo: “You can’t coach ’em if you don’t love ’em.” He truly cared about his players and they responded by giving him their best efforts day in and day out. This same credo holds true at work. If you don’t care about the people you’re leading, supervising or managing, they’re not going to give you their best efforts which causes you to be less effective in doing your job. On the other hand, if you do care, they’ll consistently work well beyond their job descriptions making you a far more effective leader, supervisor or manager. Mr. Robinson’s credo carries over to your personal life as well.
I Need Your Help!
I am a member of an organization called The Governors and we are busy planning our 21st annual fundraising event, the Governors’ Ball. As a part of this event, we sponsor a raffle to increase the proceeds given to our beneficiaries–the primary beneficiary being Banner Children’s Hospital at Banner Desert Medical Center.
This year’s raffle is for a ten day/nine night exotic Mexican Rivera Cruise for two or you may take a cruise of your choice of equivalent value. The Mexican Riviera trip includes the following:
-Round trip airfare for two to Los Angeles
-Overnight stay at the Hollywood
Renaissance Hotel
-Dinner for two at the famous Brassire
Vert by Wolfgang Puck
-Transportation for airport to hotel and
hotel to port
-Eight day Mexican Riviera cruise with ports
of call at: Acapulco, Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa,
Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas
-Balcony room on the Norwegian Star
-$500 spending cash
Only 1,000 raffle tickets will be sold.
Raffle tickets are $50 each or 5 for $200!
The winning ticket will be drawn at the Ball on May 5, 2006. You need not be present to win.
Please let me know if you are interested in supporting this wonderful cause through the purchase of raffle tickets. If you would like to attend the Governors’ Ball, please let me know as well, and I will see that you receive an invitation!
