Life is More Rewarding When You’re a Participant Instead of a Spectator

Be a participant, not just a spectator.

Be a participant, not just a spectator.

Some people choose to float through life–sitting back and watching the world go by while passing on opportunities and challenges that require any risk or effort. I had one such person share her strategy with me for dealing life’s difficult or unpleasant challenges and tasks. She said, “If you wait long enough, someone will come along and do it for you.” Mind you, there is nothing wrong with choosing this option, but you do miss out on a lot. Every time you say no to a challenge or opportunity, you’re missing out on a chance to learn and grow. The experience you gain from these situations gives you the knowledge and confidence to succeed at dealing with even greater challenges down the road. As a result, life becomes far more rewarding because you’re a true participant instead of a merely being a spectator.
