True freedom comes when we stop worrying about what other people think of us. Many of us worry way too much about what others think which can lead to mental health issues and lower our self-esteem. As ancient Chinese Taoist philosopher Lao Tzu put it, “Care about what other people think, and you will always be their prisoner.” This means that our life is being controlled by other people. A life like this cannot make us happy; it can only make us feel like we don’t measure up. So, forget about what other people think and live your life on your own terms. Do what makes you happy and experience the true freedom that comes with it.
