An article titled, “Tips to Receive the Best Raises,” which appeared in a recent issue of Career Builder.com, contained some solid advice for earning positive attention at work. This advice is so basic that it can help make you successful in any type of situation whether it’s work, a service organization, a club, a church or life in general. Here are the tips:

• Show up early every day. Showing up early gets you noticed in a positive way. Showing up late gets you noticed in a negative way.
• Never Complain. Keep your negative opinions to yourself. Nobody wants to hear about your problems.
• Show Initiative. Don’t wait to be asked to do things. When you see something that needs to be done, step forward and do it.
• Always Volunteer to do Extra Things. You’ll expand your horizons and it shows you’re a team player.
