My Weekly Reminder

Research by Wharton Professor, Nancy Rothbard and Steffanie Wilk, a professor at the Fisher School of Business at Ohio State University found that people who come to work in a good mood tend to stay that way all day, are more productive and their good mood spills over and positively affects the moods of those around them.  The exact opposite is true for people who come to work in a bad mood.  If left unchecked, these people can ruin a lot of people’s days which negatively affects productivity and morale.  So the next time someone comes to work in a bad mood, don’t ignore it, deal with it–turn that person’s mood into a good one by showing that you care about them.  You can do this by asking that person if everything is okay or if he or she needs to talk.  You can also say or do something that brightens their day like paying them a complement, giving them a card or a flower.  If you do this, you’ll save yourself and those around you a lot of headaches and you’ll feel really good besides.
