How many times have you heard people say something like, “If you’re nice, people will take advantage of you?” Or, “If you’re nice people will think you’re a pushover?” Or, “Nice people finish last?” People who say these things are totally out of touch with reality and haven’t bothered to check out the facts. Study after study has shown that people who are nice make more money, are healthier, more successful in their love relationships, get bigger pay raises and promotions and are far more successful as managers than people who aren’t. Hello, what’s there not to get about the role that being nice plays in determining your success? So, the next time one of these nay sayers tries to tell you that being nice is for whimps, nicely inform them that being nice is the hallmark of a winner.
