Each time we look at a newspaper or access a news program, we are bombarded with negativity. At times like these, it’s easy for us to become depressed and lose sight of the good things that are going on in our life like flowers, trees, pets, sunsets, birds, friends, and family. So, the next time you find yourself becoming overwhelmed with all the negativity that’s going on, realize that it’s time to be kind to yourself. Step outside, listen to the birds, smell the roses, drift with the clouds and soak in the sunset. If you have a cat, let it jump on your lap and start purring—my wife, Marcia, tells me this can be very soothing. If you do these things, you’ll quickly realize there are still lots of things going on in the world to feel good about. These special moments will offset the negativity and you’ll find yourself at peace.
