My Weekly Reminder
Some bosses can be downright stingy when it comes to doling out “thank you’s” to their employees for a job well done. Whenever I have suggested that these bosses thank their employees more often, they’ve responded by saying something like: “If I thank them too often, they’ll get swollen heads.” Boy, talk about a tragic wive’s tale! I don’t know of anyone in recorded history whose hat size has increased because of an overdose of gratitude from their boss. When employees hear the words “thank you,” it’s not their head that swells, it’s their heart. And, employees with swollen hearts not only feel very good about themselves, they’re also highly motivated to work extra hard for the boss that made them feel that way. So, as a boss, be generous with those “thank you’s” because in the end, you’re the one who benefits.
