It has been a rough year-and-a-half for restaurant servers. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, most restaurants are short of staff which has caused delays in getting food and drink orders to tables. On top of that, many restaurants have not been able to get the necessary food items delivered to ensure the availability of all the items on the menu. According to a recent article in the Wall Street Journal, some customers have chosen to vent their frustration by berating servers and, if you can believe this, referring to them as: “lazy, traitors and communists!” This has taken a huge toll on their mental and physical health. There’s no reason for this! These people work hard to take care of us. It’s not their fault that the kitchen is overwhelmed or out of your favorite item. So, I ask you to join me in giving these people a break—they have suffered enough! Be patient, treat them kindly, and tip them well. It will make a huge difference in their lives right now.
Seeing how terribly others treat wait-staff, I am always aware of their feelings. They are now putting their health on the line to serve you. The least you can do is respect them!!! P.S. My brother was a GREAT example on how NOT to treat the wait-staff. His behavior was not always the best!
