My Weekly Reminder
It’s a fact to life; people prefer to engage in those activities that make them feel good. And, the better something makes them feel, the harder they’ll work at it. One of the things that makes people feel really good about what they’re doing is if someone else appreciates their efforts. In fact, a recent study showed that people who worked for bosses who appreciated their efforts were very excited about doing their best work to further the goals of the organization. On the other hand, another study showed that nearly 90 percent of employees feel unappreciated by their bosses which means they gave far less than their best efforts day in and day out. The lesson here is that if you want to become a more effective individual, team leader, supervisor or manager, all you have to do is to express your sincere appreciation on a regular basis and the rest will take care of itself.

Feedback From a Subscriber
On November 15, I received the following email from a subscriber:
“Since I took your class I have been promoted to manager of my department. The latest Reminder of how to interact and treat my employees is very valuable. Acting on what has been learned is the most difficult portion. Thanks for the reminder.”
