My Weekly Reminder
USA Today recently ran an article on the Waiter Rule–You can tell a lot about a person by the way he or she treats the waiter. Ratheon CEO, Bill Swanson says the rule never fails. “A person who is nice to you, but not nice to the waiter, is not a nice person.” The article went on to say that the Waiter Rule applies to the way people treat other service employees–hotel maids, mailroom clerks, bellmen and security guards–as well. There are two lessons here: (1) Make sure you treat service employees, and everyone else for that matter, with the utmost kindness and respect–the way you would like to be treated–because others are watching and making judgements about your character and (2) think twice about dealing with people who are rude to service employees.
